COMPANY OVERVIEW

Invest in Africa (IIA) is a not-for-profit organisation with the vision to create prospering African economies. We are a collaboration of private companies, public bodies and donor organisations that support local African businesses by creating access to markets, skills and finance.

IIA has offices in the UK, Ghana and Kenya, Senegal and Mauritania with other operations in Zambia and Guinea. The APP was launched in Ghana in late 2014, while the BLP began training with the first group of SMEs in September 2015.

IIA Kenya opened in October 2015 with plans to launch the APP and BLP initiatives later on in 2016. IIA Senegal opened it’s offices in 2018 with plans to launch the APP and BLP initiatives later in 2020.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead the creation, updating and maintaining of EPL Ghana’s website and social media presence
  • Draft and organize social media content to promote EPL Ghana’s blogs, videos and media coverage on all socials
  • Contribute to social media quantitative and qualitative analytics reporting
  • Create and coordinate content for social media campaigns and observances
  • Monitor and research influencers, trending topics and tools relevant to EPL Ghana’s work
  • Source content from staff around the world and at events
  • General social media planning, research, reporting and coordination as assigned

  • Photo/video captions
  • Blogs
  • Project descriptions
  • Interviewing
  • Copyediting
  • Press releases and media advisories
  • Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly eNewsletter
  • Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts and other relevant stories
  • Oversee the editing and formatting of photos, audios and videos for social media and web
  • Coordinate photography and videography
  • Assist with the design of flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing materials for major events hosted by EPL Ghana
  • Digital asset management
  • Help compile and update EPL Ghana’s media contact lists
  • Prepare media reports on assigned subjects
  • Identify and research opportunities to share EPL Ghana/Fellows stories with relevant journalists and media outlets
  • Assist with press release/media advisory writing, editing, distribution, and media outreach
  • Assist with media interview scheduling and coordination
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating of photo/video shoots
  • Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for media, marketing and communications
  • Support any administrative task as may be required

COMPETENCIES (Skills/Abilities & Behaviour)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations or related field
  • Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space
  • Passion for digital marketing
  • Previous internship or related experience in marketing, media or communications is a plus
  • Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in WordPress highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and Web & graphic design a plus
  • An effective communicator, both written and oral
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts
  • Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Enthusiasm for the vision and mission of EPL Ghana 

MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Mastercard Foundation Scholar Award letter  or letter of attestation from your  Mastercard Foundation Program Manager at the institution that awarded you the Scholarship. Secondary Scholars who studied in non-Scholars Program partner universities can apply with the award letter they received from their Secondary Education NGO ( Equity, CAMFED, BRAC and FAWE)
  • Copy of ID / Passport proving your citizenship or eligibility to work in the country
  • Copy of Highest Education Certificate/Qualification

DURATION & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • 6x Months Internship Program ONLY, the host organization reserve the right to extend the internship or convert it to a job based on performance and identified need. No full time jobs are guaranteed
